The government of India and the petroleum ministry have been repeatedly arguing that the E20 petrol is good on the environment and cheap on the pocket.
But the public has been scrutinising the same saying that ethanol blended petrol has been reducing the mileage. There was even a movement against this for a brief period earlier which didn’t materialise eventually.
Incidentally, this topic came to discussion as a Telangana assembly today as transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar spoke on this matter.
“There is no evidence of E20 petrol causing any damages to vehicles. Transport department hasn’t received any such information so far. So there are no directives given by the authorities about the same” Prabhakar said in the Assembly today.
While the Congress chief and the opposition leader of India, Rahul Gandhi himself had been critical of the E20 petrol, more resistance was expected from Telangana Congress on this matter.
Particularly, Rahul Gandhi had promised to revolution against the E20 petrol and called for the reversal of the same. So if anything, Telangana Congress would have been expected to find establishments against this petrol in the first place.
But interestingly enough, the transport minister has said there are no complaints or corrections on this matter, which would fall into the narrative set by the BJP. This is a strange operational procedure executed by the Telangana Congress, a seasoned observer opines on this topic.
