The monsoon season is finally here and despite the fact that there is no adequate rain around, the mosquitoes have started to create a public nuisance big time. The situation is simply getting out of hand in Hyderabad with large volumes of mosquitoes leading to public panic.
The number of cases of dengue and malaria have been going drastically across the city while the public is pushing for better sanitary conditions and preventive measure from the authorities.
This matter has come to discussion in the Telangana assembly today as IT Minister Sreedhar Babu spoke about it. But it appeared that he did not have a clear idea to eradicate the mosquito problem across Hyderabad city either.
Telangana IT Minister D Sridhar Babu said in the Assembly that regular fogging is being carried out, but mosquitoes continue to be seen across the city during the current season.
He said the possibility of mosquitoes developing resistance to fogging could be a factor, and added that officials would examine the issue and work out a solution to control the mosquito menace.
This is quickly becoming a big problem with the urban population, starting to complain against the principal authorities across Hyderabad about the growing mosquito problem. This can affect the voting patterns in the upcoming GHMC elections, and perhaps requires quick intervention from the chief minister himself.
It is perhaps time for chief minister Revanth Reddy to focus on this issue as a solution needs to be established at the earliest before the public outrage reaches more heights.
