Will Reddys Believe Sai Reddy And Jagan Reddy Again?

Vijay Sai Reddy is preparing to launch a new political party in Andhra Pradesh, and he is clearly looking at the Reddy community as one of his important support bases. He recently said his proposed party would protect the self-respect and pride of the Reddy community while also working for all sections.

But the bigger question is whether Reddy voters will actually believe him and stand behind him.

The Reddy community was considered one of the strong support bases of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy when YSRCP came to power in 2019. But the 2024 election showed a major change. YSRCP was reduced to just 11 Assembly seats, while the NDA won 164 seats. Analysts also noted a significant shift among Reddy voters towards the TDP alliance.

This makes Sai Reddy’s task more difficult. He was a close associate of Jagan for many years and played an important role in YSRCP. Now he is trying to create a separate political space by talking about a new alternative for the people of Andhra Pradesh.

The challenge is that simply talking about Reddy self-respect may not be enough to bring the community together. Sai Reddy will have to build his own connection with voters and convince them that his party offers something different.

There is another interesting factor. YS Sharmila also tried to build support among sections of the Reddy community after moving into AP Congress politics, but she did not turn that effort into a major electoral base.

Now Sai Reddy is attempting something similar from a different platform. The question is whether Reddy voters who moved away from Jagan in 2024 will return to a leader who was closely associated with him for years.

Sai Reddy has announced plans to offer a third alternative, with a focus on Rayalaseema, youth, employment and irrigation. He has also said 66% of opportunities in his proposed party will be given to people below 40.

Ultimately, the real test for Sai Reddy will not be how strongly he speaks about the Reddy community. It will be whether he can build trust beyond his past association with Jagan and create a genuine political base of his own.
