Olympics @ Amaravati? Lokesh Meets Jay Shah!

Andhra Pradesh chief minister, Chandrababu Naidu came up with this ambitious idea of notifying Andhra Pradesh as a potential destination for Olympics if India wins the bid to host the upcoming Games in 2036.

On that note, it appears that Andhra Pradesh leadership has already started to be in the good books of the Centre for a potential claim to host a part of the Olympics, if it actually comes to India in the first place.

Incidentally, Nara Lokesh met ICC Chairman Jay Shah in Ahmedabad on Thursday as a courtesy call. During the meeting, Minister Lokesh congratulated Jay Shah for successfully leading international cricket as ICC Chairman.

He particularly appreciated Jay Shah’s achievements in securing cricket’s inclusion in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, securing record IPL media rights among others.

They also discussed Andhra Pradesh’s ambition to emerge as a major sports hub from developing Visakhapatnam as a destination for water sports, to hosting domestic and women’s cricket tournaments.

It is evident that Lokesh is sharing a particularly close rapport with Jay Shah and this could very well help in staking the claim for the Olympics bid in the coming days. The adequate ground preparation that is being done already by Lokesh and Babu to this effect.
