AP Govt Plans Low Cost 3D Printed Housing

Andhra Pradesh government under CM Chandrababu Naidu is adopting innovative strategies in delivering welfare measures to the poor across the state. In one such initiative, the government is now planning a major housing project to construct low cost 3D printed homes for beneficiaries.

Reportedly, the state government has decided to launch a special pilot project in Burripalem village near Tenali area under PMAY-G scheme to build quality houses much faster than traditional brick construction methods by using advanced automated machinery.

The high tech construction method relies on digital computer designs to manufacture strong wall structures layer by layer. Once foundation base is ready, the printed wall sections are quickly installed to finish building setup in very short timeframe.

Using this technology, houses can be built in less than two months and also reduces unnecessary delays due to lack of labour. Another big advantage of 3D printed houses is their natural temperature control features which ensures relatively cooler interiors than the outside weather.

Similar model was earlier tested in Uttarakhand state with good results. If the Burripalem pilot run yields successful outcomes, government plans to expand this model across thousands of rural housing sites.

The pilot project is going to be launched by CM on October 4th and foundation stone for the construction of 100 housing units under the PMAY-G scheme will be laid during this event. Union Minister and Guntur MP Pemmasani Chandrasekhar will also attend the launch.
