Is Rahul Gandhi Dominating Modi On Social Media?

Narendra Modi enjoys massive following on social media. He is undeniably the popular leader with massive social media following. Not just in India, but across the globe, Modi has a huge following. Even till the 2024 elections, Modi is way above his peers and political opponents when it comes to social media. Modi was clearly ahead of Rahul Gandhi on almost every front, including political image and social media influence. But this is changing gradually.

While Modi continues to have a massive following, there is growing criticism against him on social media. At the same time, Rahul Gandhi, who was once widely mocked as Pappu, is slowly gaining traction on the same platforms.

Be it the NEET paper leak issue or the ongoing Election Commission controversy, Rahul Gandhi is increasingly becoming a strong voice on social media, especially among the youth and Gen Z. His interventions on the NEET issue also received considerable attention online.

The latest Election Commission protest issue where Rahul led the INDIA Bloc march towards the ECI and subsequent arrest of Rahul turned into a major boost for him on social media. The whole issue further highlighted this shift in social media perception. The protests and visuals from the episode quickly became a major talking point on social media, giving the much-needed push for RaGa which he has been waiting for many years.

Interestingly, Rahul who was once a regular target of social media trolling is now finding a new kind of popularity among young users.

Is social media slowly changing the political roles and perceptions of Modi and Rahul? Well, this is certainly an interesting development to watch.
