Vizag MP Bharat On Why Google’s AI Hub Will Create Fewer Jobs

It is already known that Google is set to establish a massive data centre here in Vizag and the groundwork is being completed briskly for the same. Now there is an interesting discussion on this matter, and it has come from Vizag MP Bharath himself.

Bharath was asked to comment on the aspect of the job creation prospect with this Google data centre in Vizag, and he was pretty straightforward with his reaction.

Bharath pointed out that the direct employment aspect of this data centre is not going to be very bright as data centres usually require very few physical resources.

“I have said this multiple times in the past, and I am putting it forward again now. There will be a few hundreds of jobs associated with this data Centre in Vizag. Maybe 1000 would be a rough ballpark. But this is the concept of data centres all over the world. There will be 3 strategic locations and maybe a few hundreds will get jobs.”

But it is the economic progress that is associated with this data centres that’s the most important aspect here, according to the local MP. He says the presence of a big company like Google in Vizag will invite more bigger companies to set shop here which will help the city expand further.

The was followed by another interesting discussion about the question to prioritise IT companies at a time when companies have started to layoff employees. MP Bharath says the AI is causing certain disruptions in the IT market, but it is also creating many new opportunities at the same time.

IT has been one of the biggest providers of employment opportunities and financial resources to the largest section of the population and it is to be delivered as much respect, he says.
