BJP MP Sending Divorce Notice To Wife For Joining Opp Party

The news of BJP MP Saumitra Khan’s wife Sujata Mondal Khan joining Trinamool Congress has gone viral and created ripples.

As the ruling TMC led by Mamta Banerjee and BJP are locking horns in the state ahead of the state’s Assembly elections, the news of BJP MP’s wife joining Mamta’s party became a hot topic in political circles.

Shocking everyone, BJP MP Saumitra Khan announced that he would divorce his wife Sujata for joining the rival political party. He stated that he is deeply upset and said he is ‘sending divorce notice’.

Saumitra asked his wife to not use his surname. Politics has divided husband and wife. Saumitra Khan is also Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) state unit chief of West Bengal state.

It all began when wife Sujata Mondal joined TMC earlier in the day and made comments against corrupt leaders in BJP. She said “misfit” and “corrupt leaders” are getting more importance in the BJP than the loyal workers. She said she had worked hard for her husband’s victory during the Lok Sabha election and she got “nothing in return”.

After joining ruling TMC, Sujata said, “I hope he will realise one day… Who knows he might be back in the TMC one day.”

MP Saumitra Khan hurriedly called a press meet after Sujata’s press conference and said he is sending divorce notice to Sujata, “severing our 10-year relationship”.

“You are being used by some people who did not hesitate to create rift between a husband and wife who stood by each other during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Yes, you were my pillar during the Bishnupur Lok Sabha campaign,” Saumitra Khan said. 

“However, please don’t forget I had won by 6,58,000 votes and this margin was possible because of my party (BJP), because of my reputation in the area,” he added.

Stating that Sujata owed her popularity to the BJP, he said, “You (Sujata Mondal) have come this far as you had chanted Jai Shree Ram, chanted in favour of Modiji, as you were the wife of Saumitra Khan.”

“Please refrain from using ‘Khan’ surname hereafter; please don’t refer to yourself as Saumitra Khan’s wife. I am giving you all the freedom to chart your own political destiny. But please don’t forget you are siding with those who had attacked your parents’ residence in 2019 after I joined the BJP,” Saumitra Khan said in the press conference.
