High Alert: 8 Travellers From UK Test Corona

The UK strain of Covid-19 is creating a panic all over the globe. Several countries have temporarily suspended their flight operations to the UK and India will be joining them from Tuesday mid-night. Simultaneously India is testing all the travellers from the UK and they have detected a couple of people who tested positive.

About eight passengers with recent UK travel history have been tested Corona positive. Of the 8 people who tested Corona positive, 5 people are from Delhi, 2 from Kolkata and 1 from Chennai. However, it is yet to be ascertained whether these are carriers of new strain of Covid virus or not. Their samples are sent to Pune’s Virology Lab and waiting for the lab reports.

The eight Covid cases include the six passengers who landed in India last night on an Air India flight from London. The Chennai, man who tested Corona positive, first landed in Delhi and from there he reached Chennai. The officials identified the man and sent him to quarantine.

Also his samples are sent to Pune lab to check the virus strains, informed Tamil Nadu Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan. There is a high alert in cities like Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai and Amritsar as these cities have direct flights to the UK.

Meanwhile about 240 people have returned to Indian from the UK in Mumbai and Amritsar. All the passengers are expected to be sent to quarantine as the protocols. Also at all major airports in the country, testing facilities are placed and every international passenger is being duly tested.
