The former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan had been very adamant when it comes to opening up on his stand at the central level. Ideally, he should be with the opposition INDIA bloc but his YCP had been silently leaning towards the NDA by supporting all their reforms in the Parliament.
But for the first time, Jagan appears to have opened about his national aspirations as he decided to back the ongoing mega rally of the INDIA bloc against the election commission irregularities.
Speaking up on this matter today, Jagan said the central government must definitely bring new reforms in the election commission procedure.
“The Central Government should come forward and make efforts to bring about these reforms. If an NDA partner is permitted to do so today and the Central Government chooses to ignore it, democracy will not prevail. Journalists have been beaten up, and polling agents were not allowed to enter polling stations.” Jagan said about local polls in AP.
The former chief minister went to point out that the NDA government must consider the ongoing protests to change the selection of the CEC. He went to comment that his party would be approaching the Supreme Court on this matter if needed.
This is the first clear indication from Jagan that he is leaning with the INDIA bloc as he announced unconditional support to the ongoing movement against the election commission.
But considering the fact that Jagan had been historically repulsive of Rahul Gandhi, it has to be seen how he would deal with this complex situation at this point in time.
