One leader after the other seems to getting the ‘gyaan’ now what with each of them saying that people have to learn to co-exist with the deadly coronavirus.
Just a few days ago, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that virus should be considered part of people’s life. He said people should learn to live with it.
This morning, Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) working president and minister for IT and municipal administration K.T. Rama Rao too expressed the same view in different words. He said lifting of the Covid-19 lockdown was wrought with the risk of spread of Covid-19 and hence, urged the higher officials to formulate stricter guidelines for the safety of public till a vaccine was found.
In the press meet held by Rama Rao’s father and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao a couple of days ago, he too reiterated the same point and urged public to maintain hygiene at personal-level.
Telangana irrigation minister T. Harish Rao also said the virus appears to be an inevitable thing in life.
Similarly, AICC leader Rahul Gandhi too stressed that lockdown was not the solution to coronavirus. He reminded: “It is just a pause button but not an on-off switch.” Gandhi asked the Centre to spell out its strategy to lift the lockdown post May 17.
People should understand that life cannot come to a standstill because of a germ invisible to the naked eye. The lockdown should only help us imbibe the protocols of washing hands frequently, wearing masks, maintaining social distance and practising coughing and sneezing etiquette into our life.
