Vijay Sai Reddy’s Allegation: Venkaiah Naidu Gets Emotional

YSRCP national general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Sai Reddy’s comments against Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu have become a hot topic in Delhi circles. Vijay Sai Reddy made political comments against Vice President Venkaiah Naidu who is in a constitutional post and has been staying away from politics since he assumed the office. Venkaiah Naidu got emotional with Sai Reddy’s personal comments on him. Pained by such remarks, Venkaiah said he is personally hurt. He said he felt “really sad today” in Parliament.

Vijay Sai Reddy accused the Chairman of the house of being “biased” towards TDP and TDP members. He alleged that the Chairman has given more “opportunities” for TDP MPs to speak compared to YSRCP MPs. That’s not all. Vijay Sai Reddy went on to allege that Venkaiah Naidu’s body with BJP and heart with TDP.

It all began when Vijay Sai Reddy sought to raise the comments made by TDP MP few days ago which he claimed were “objectionable” and “should not have been raised in this house”. Sai Reddy alleged that Venkaiah Naidu himself had permitted the TDP MP to speak. Vijay Sai Reddy said in Rajya Sabha, “I want these observations to be expunged which you have not done.” Vijay Sai Reddy tried to raise the Point Of Order under Rule No.238 (5) and Rule No.238(3) to which Chairman Venkaiah Naidu clearly told, “It doesn’t fall under Point Of Order. You can write to me. I’ll examine the record and expunge anything that is found objectionable. You are raising the rules but not following the rules. Every member of the house needs to follow the rules.” Even when Venkaiah Naidu had politely asked Vijay Sai Reddy to sit down, he continued to speak and made allegations against the Chair. Venkaiah Naidu said, “These will not go into the record.”

It can be noted that Venkaiah Naidu had resigned to BJP’s primary membership before assuming the office of Vice President, a constitutional post that is above politics. Venkaiah, a Telugu man himself, has been revered by leaders cutting across political parties for his acumen, hard work, service and eloquent speeches. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi too respects Venkaiah Naidu and his post he occupied, Vijay Sai Reddy’s personal remarks against Venkaiah have become a debating point. It needs to be seen what action Venkaiah Naidu takes against Vijay Sai Reddy.
