Tamilisai Brought Back Respect To Raj Bhavan

Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan launched Raj Bhavan Annam programme at Raj Bhavan Community Hall on Monday for the benefit of students pursuing education in Raj Bhavan School and workers of Raj Bhavan sanitation and gardening wings.

As part of the programme, nutritious breakfast would be provided free to nearly 500 people every day. The Satya Sai Seva Samiti came forward to make the Governor’s initiative a reality.

The Governor urged mothers to provide nutritious food to their students to ensure physical and mental growth. This would also help in increasing the academic talent of the students and also reducing the dropout rate, she said.

Soundararajan and her predecessor E.S.L. Narasimhan garnered respect to the Governor’s by discharging their duties diligently.

During the outbreak of Covid-19, Soundararajan, being a medical professional herself, had seen to it that the state government took all the necessary steps to check the spread of the pandemic, following the Telangana High Court admonishing the powers that be for neglecting their responsibilities and being lax in conducting the required number of tests.

She even visited NIMS Hospital to give moral support to the frontline warriors including doctors and paramedical staff. She even slammed KCR government for not doing the required number of tests and for shoddy management of the Covid-19 crisis. She also expressed dissatisfaction over the poor facilities in the hospitals. She also held an awareness session on Covid-19 on her Twitter account. During the hour-long interactive session, the Governor answered nearly 250 questions.

She kept stressing that people should observe Covid-19 protocols and keep themselves safe from contracting the disease.

Her predecessor E.S.L. Narasimhan, who assumed office of the Governor of united Andhra Pradesh in December 2009, also became the Governor of Telangana in June 2, 2014, after bifurcation of the state.

Narasimhan was appointed the Governor of Andhra Pradesh in the aftermath of his predecessor N.D. Tiwari resigning after a sex scandal.

Eightysix-year-old Tiwari landed in a controversy after a Telugu TV news channel telecast explicit clippings supposedly of the veteran Congress leader with three women. Following this telecast, women activists staged demonstrations outside the Raj Bhavan demanding that Tiwari resign or be dismissed.

Narasimhan and Tamilisai brought back respect to Raj Bhavan where there were strong allegations of misdoings during the tenure of Tiwari.

Hope the ilk of accountable and responsible Governors increase in the country.
