All Eyes On Sharmila’s Meeting

In tune with the speculation of launching a political party, Y.S. Sharmila, daughter of former Chief Minsiter late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and sister of AP Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, got in touch with sympathisers and supporters of YSR and even called them for a meeting at Lotus Pond in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

The meeting gains significance in the wake of buzz in political circles that she is gearing up to launch her political outfit in Telangana, after ‘feeling neglected’ by Jagan both in business and political matters of the family. There is information that YSR’s wife Vijayamma is also supporting her daughter’s entry into politics.

Sources said that she had asked YSR loyalists of Nalgonda, Suryapet and Yadadri to assemble at Lotus Pond residence in Hyderabad. It is learnt that she would preside the meeting and discuss on the scope of floating a new political party with the aim of attracting all YSR supporters. She will also elicit the opinion of those participating in the meeting about her plunge into active politics in Telangana.

The meeting is being referred as ‘get together of YSR loyalists’ and it coincides with the 50th wedding anniversary of YSR and Vijayamma. The duo got married on February 9, 1972 at Pulivendula in Kadapa district. It is being said that the YCP leaders were also asked to refrain from putting up comments on the issue on the social media. Neither did any prominent political leaders in Andhra Pradesh or Telangana make any comments except for Congress veteran V. Hanumantha Rao who suggested that she float her party in Andhra Pradesh rather than in Telangana.

It is significant to note that the invitees did not include any YCP leaders. Sharmila, it is known, has been consulting the senior leaders of the Congress, TRS and BJP in the last one week.

TTD advisory committee member Pitta Ramreddy, known to be very close to YSR family, has been mobilising people in big numbers for the meeting. It has been informed that she would hold the meeting with as many as 150 political activists from 10.30 am to 11.30 am. However, it is known that over 3,000 people from Nalgonda are getting ready to attend the meet.

It is being said that leaders of other districts including Jagtial and Nizamabad also received information about the get together and that she would hold parleys with them separately. These meetings would be held on alternate days in the next few days.

She is likely to ask the leaders how should she go about after the launch of the party and also about what should be taken as the agenda.

Sharmila seems to be calculated in her moves and not be hasty in making announcement of her political outfit.
