Don’t Consider Women ‘Abala’, She Will Become ‘Tabala’: TDP

TDP leader Divya Vani fumed at the police for misbehaving and manhandling women farmers protesting for the cause of Amaravati. She said that women would prove that she is not ‘abala’ (without strength) but ‘tabala’ and begin banging against injustice.

She lashed out at a few NRIs labelling the women farmers as ‘paid artistes’ and ‘prostitutes’. She said that the protesters were touched inappropriately by the police when they tried to move towards goddess Kanakadurga at the temple atop Indrakeeladri from the Prakasam barrage to offer prayers seeking divine intervention for justice to them. She wondered why home minister Sucharita was not responding on the issue while the situation was so bad. She demanded that the home minister take severe action against all those guilty of misbehaving with the women.

The police prevented the women farmers from reaching the Indrakeeladri temple on January 10, last year too. There were incidents of manhandling women protesters and making derogatory remarks against them earlier too.

The actress-turned-politician questioned why drone cameras were set up at the place of protest while they were doing it peacefully. She criticised Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for remaining silent on Amaravati protest even while the farmers, who parted with their land for the capital city, have been on the warpath for the last 445 days. Should we go to Modi or Trump to ask for justice, she asked.

The TDP leader also took exception to casting aspersions and trying to link up the Amaravati farmers’ protest to a community. She said that the authorities can come to their protest camp and note down the details of caste of each and every protester who had given their land hoping for a better future for their kids, once Amaravati was built.

People of all ages, including the young and old, have been protesting for the cause of the capital even during the Corona crisis period, putting their life at risk, but the government has no mercy on them, she lamented.

She asserted that they would not withdraw their protest till justice was done to the Amaravati farmers.
