The other day Union Health ministry expressed deep concern over the waste of Covid-19 vaccine by several states that includes Telugu states. Telangana accounts to 17.6 percent of vaccine wastage is what the health ministry quoted. This has shocked many and wondering what is the state government doing.
Refuting these claims, the Director of Public Health and Family Welfare has issued a press statement and added that the vaccine wastage is just 1.22 percent. As per the statement, Telangana state has received 9,52,550 vaccine doses and so far the vaccine consumed stands at 8,86,330. The health department also provided a web-link wherein the vaccine doses are administered.
On a number of occasions, Telangana and Centre had differences and Covid-19 vaccine is no exception. But who is speaking the factual information is something no one has any clue.
The only saving grace in this issue is, it did not get the political touch and yes it should not too. When public health matters, politics should be kept at a distance.
