Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat’s derogatory comments on women wearing torn jeans has invited a lot of criticism. On social media, the hashtag #RippedJeansTwitter has been trending since Thursday and many women are posting pictures of themselves wearing these ripped jeans.
Joining the chorus, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra tweeted pictures of PM Narendra Modi and union Nitin Gadkari in shorts. “Oh my God!!! Their knees are showing,” tweeted Priyanka which has pictures of Modi and Gadkari from their RSS days. She indirectly took a dig at BJP’s attitude towards the western wear too.
Despite this outrageous criticism, one person has defended Uttarakhand CM and she is none other than CM’s wife Rashmi Tyagi. She said it is the responsibility of the women of our country to save our cultural heritage, our identity and our costumes.
