The ruling TRS party has shocked the enthusiastic Telangana BJP by winning the Hyderabad-Mahbubnagar-Rangareddy graduate MLC elections. TRS candidate Vani Devi has been declared as the winner. This is for the first time that TRS won this quota graduate MLC seat while BJP lost its sitting seat.
According to the latest media reports Vani Devi won with a majority of 11,703 votes over BJP’s Ramachandar Rao. However, the counting for this election went for a record time of four days.
None of the candidates secured a majority in the first priority votes. With no other option, the election officials have counted the second priority votes. Here the elimination process has begun and nearly 93 candidates were eliminated.
This victory is a huge relief for TRS party which has been receiving setbacks from Dubbaka elections.
