Another Lockdown In Maharashtra Likely, CM Warns

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has said that the state can get into another lockdown if the COVID-19 situation remains the same. The Shiv Sena chief’s statements come particularly when the number of Novel Coronavirus cases and deaths in the state are seeing a huge surge with each passing day and are higher than any other Indian state.

Addressing the people of Maharastra last night, Uddhav said that strict restrictions to control the rising number of cases will be announced over the next couple of days. He said that hospitals in the state will be full in the next few days if the present situation continues. Meanwhile, the state government has already ordered to close all the bars and restaurants and eateries for 7 days in Pune, where the daily number of COVID-19 cases have surpassed Mumbai.

Uddhav also appealed to the people and opposition leaders who are targeting his government to not indulge into politics and will play with people’s life.

“People who wish to take to the streets to oppose the lockdown, please come but not to oppose the lockdown. Come out to help the people, who are working in Covid facilities,” the CM appealed.

The CM also said that many experts have suggested him against imposing another lockdown. He said that while some opposed the lockdown, some suggested that the government must transfer money to those who will lose jobs.

“An industrialist has also said that rather than lockdown, why can’t government improve health facilities. I just have one request to these people, bring doctors for me. Bring me people, who will work for these facilities.” Uddhav said.
