The state of Telangana has posted Rs 27,288.72 crore of revenue from liquor sales for the year 2020-2021. This revenue is higher by Rs 4,682 crore when compared with the year 2019-2020. For the same year, the Telangana government made a revenue of Rs 22,605.91 crore.
This revenue for the year 2020-2021 is despite the lockdown and liquor stores being closed for almost three months. However, as per the Telangana Excise department stats, there is a drop in sales and due to higher prices, the revenue shoot up.
3,35,49,811 liquor cases have been sold in 2020-2021 while 2,73,32,828 beer cases have been sold. When compared with 2019, the liquor cases were down by 13,33,377 while beer cases were down by 2,18,93,000.
