Telangana government’s health administration decided to stop giving the Covid vaccine first doses. The state’s health ministry decided to administer only second doses from tomorrow (8th May).
The scarcity and unavailability of the Covid vaccine had forced the Telangana government to stop vaccinating people with the first doses until the 15th of May. As there are more than 11 lakh people who are yet to get vaccinated with a second dose, the health ministry is on getting people fully vaccinated first.
Telangana state CS Somesh Kumar earlier requested the central government to provide 30 lakh Covid vaccine doses, but only 15 lakh doses were sent. Already, due to the scarcity o vaccine doses, the vaccination program has been postponed and delayed four times.
The number of people who are yet to get the second vaccine dose is growing and hence the government’s decision.
