94 Cr Liquor Sale On First Day Of Telangana Lockdown: Reports

Hyderabadis are always first in creating records and grabbing the attention of everyone in the nation. With the announcement of lockdown in the state, the people thronged to wine shops and bars to stick up the liquor for the next ten days. As per the stats, the state recorded the highest sales in the last 24 to 72 hours. On Wednesday, which is the first day of the lockdown, the state recorded 94 Cr rupees sale in the state, say reports.

On Tuesday evening, from 3 PM to 10 PM, the wine shops within Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits sold alcohol worth around Rs 25 crore. Usually, the wine shops in GHMC limits register a sale of 5 Lakh rupees on a daily basis but on Tuesday, the sale witnessed a triple hike.

The wine shops in the state will be open from 6 AM to 10 AM during the lockdown. But, the people looted the stock on Tuesday evening, to avoid unnecessary complications on the days of lockdown. However, the state still witnessed a good number of sales on the first day of lockdown.

The wine shop owners are not happy with the timings as they were expecting the sale to take place from 10 AM to 12 noon because of some logistic issues on their end.

The excise department revealed that the state recorded a sale of more than 770 Crores already this month. Several states in the country announced lockdown but no state witnessed the huge sales in liquor like in Telangana, which has become a trending topic on social media.
