MP Raghurama Krishna Raju Arrested By AP CID

Narsapur MP Kanumuru Raghu Rama Krishna Raju, who is popularly known as RRR, has been arrested by AP CID officials in Hyderabad today. Amidst a high drama as Raju protested, AP CID officials took him into custody.

Earlier, AP CID sleuths, who arrived in Hyderabad, reached Raju’s residence in the city and served him the notices before arresting him. Raju has been charged with abusing CM Jaganmohan Reddy and the state government.

The CRPF security of Raghurama Krishna Raju provided by the Centre had tried to provide security to the MP during the arrest. However, CID officials have got due clearances from the top officials of the CRPF following which the CRPF security make way for the CID officials to do their duty.

Coincidentally, it is Raju’s birthday today. He was spending his quality time with the family. About ten to twenty CID officials came in civil dress and served the notices followed by the arrest. As per the media reports, MP Raghu Ramakrishnam Raju was booked under sections IPC 124A (Criminal Conspiracy against state government), 153B, 505 and 120B.

The verbal war between Raju and YSRCP leaders has been going on for a long time. With Raju’s arrest, there could be more political repercussions. Raju has been considered to have high-profile contacts with BJP’s top brass in Delhi. It can be noted that Raju had filed a petition in the CBI court seeking cancellation of bail of AP CM YS Jagan. This has added fuel to the ongoing feud between Raju and Jagan’s camp.

Raju’s son Bharat has expressed his dissent over his father’s untimely arrest. Raju’s family is likely to move the court over his arrest. An official statement from AP CID officials on Raju’s arrest is still awaited.
