All thanks to the pandemic that wearing a mask in public places has been made mandatory. As we Indians give least importance to rules set by the government, we often see violations. But to tackle these violations and implementing the rules with strictness, penalties in the form of fines are being charged.
Due to the severity of the second wave of Covid-19, the Telangana government has issued an order making mask mandatory in public places from April 11th this year. The G.O. also stated that people caught with ‘No-Mask’ would be charged Rs 1000 as penalty.
Telangana Police have done the same for ‘No-Mask’ violators. Till now, the Telangana Police have collected Rs 31 crore from the ‘No-Mask’ violators. Informing the same to the Telangana High Court, the cops said 3,39,412 cases against persons not wearing face masks and collected Rs 31 crore as penalties from May 1 to May 14.
But the total cases for violating Covid-19 guidelines stand at 4,31,823 which includes 22,560 cases were filed for not maintaining physical distancing.
These numbers are huge and shocking too. What’s surprising is, people have complete knowledge of the havoc being created by the second wave yet people are not bothering to wear a mask. Probably increasing the penalty by multiple folds might force them to wear a mask and at least help in keeping others safe.
