In the lockdown time, the Telangana government has exempted the delivery of e-commerce and food. However in a surprise the city police have stopped the delivery boys of Zomato, Swiggy and others and even seized the vehicles of the delivery agents in the twin cities. At some checkpoints, the police used their lathi against the delivery boys.
Taking to social media delivery boys have found fault with the police and their actions. Reacting to them Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi shot questions at Telangana government and DGP for seizing the vehicles and manhandling the delivery agents.
“G.O on lockdown in Telangana clearly states that food delivery is permitted. Why are delivery personnel being detained then? They must be released along with their vehicles immediately. These are poor youths trying to get by,” tweeted Owaisi.
Adding he wrote, “@TelanganaCS if the govt has decided to not allow food delivery, then please amend the GO. Till such an amendment is made, food delivery personnel should not be stopped.”
The G.O. shared Owaisi clearly states exemption for e-commerce and food delivery. Wonder what poked the city police to stop delivery agents without prior notice. An explanation is definitely needed here.
