Hang Sushil Kumar, Demands Rana’s Parents

India’s star wrestler and two-time Olympic medal winner Sushil Kumar should be hanged and stripped off his medals, demanded the  parents of Sagar Rana, a fellow wrestler who was allegedly murdered by Kumar.

Sagar’s bereaved parents also appealed to the authorities to investigate the case thoroughly as they fear that the Olympic medal winner could influence the probe with  his political influence.

On May 4, Rana was killed after a brawl at Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi. Sushil and other wrestlers allegedly assaulted Sagar Rana, Sonu and  Amit Kumar. While Rana succumbed to injuries, Sonu and Amit were injured.

Police took Sushil and co-accused Ajay into custody from Mundka area in Delhi on Sunday, after the duo were on the run for 19days. They were remanded to six days of police custody.

Rana’s  mother said that  Sushil Kumar is not fit to be called a mentor. The late wrestler’s father Ashok, a constable in Begumpur police station, urged the authorities to investigate Kumar’s alleged links with criminals.

“We hope justice will be done to us. Where was  he when  he absconded? Who gave him shelter during that time? A probe  should be conducted  into Sushil  Kumar’s links with gangsters. He must be hanged so that it would be a lesson to all those trying to kill their pupils,” he said.

Sagar reportedly used to consider the two-time Olympian his guru and was living in the property registered in the name of Kumar’s wife.

Sushil is the country’s most-decorated  wrestler who also won 3 Commonwealth Games gold medals, 1 world championship gold, 1 bronze in the Asian Games and 4 Asian Championship medals.
