Hyderabad’s Virinchi Hospital Barred From Treating Covid-19 Cases

Telangana government on Friday revoked permissions of Virinchi hospital in Banjara Hills after receiving a complaint against its medical negligence by its doctors and for violating treatment protocols.

Along with allegations of negligence in treating the patients, many hospitals were named in the complaint about charging excessive fees from the Covid-19 patients. The Telangana government canceled licenses to treat Covid-19 patients.

The major complaint lodged by the realtive of a man named Vamsi Krishna, who died while undergoing treatment at Virinchi hospital. On May 27, the family of the deceased Vamsi Krishna, created a ruckus at Virinchi Hospital alleging wrong treatment, negligence and fudging of his death report. Vamsi Krishna’s sister Sashy Bhavani Vangapalli, along with a group of 16 people, entered into an argument with the management over alleged lapses in treatment administered to her brother. Punjagutta police arrested them and sent to judicial remand.

Virinchi hospital was barred from treating Covid-19 patients last year too, for negligence and not following the ceiling rates fixed by the state government.

The government canceled the licenses of Virinchi Hospital, Begumpet’s Vinn Hospital, Kachiguda’sTX Hospital, KPHB’s Max Health hospital, Sanath Nagar’s Neelima hospital.

The state government also issued show cause notices to 64 private hospitals in the state over the grievances received. With the cancellation of permissions to treat Covid-19 patients, the Virinchi and other hospitals shall not admit any new Covid-19 patients.

Andhra Pradesh govt increases punishment For Private Hopsitals charging excessive fee

The YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led Andhra Pradesh government on Friday increased the punishment of private hospitals for charging excessive fee from patients. Making amendments to the previous orders, the government issued a new order, which stated that if the hospital is found to be charging more than the prescribed rate, they will be levied 10 times the additional amount, while repeated offenders will be prosecuted.
