Jagan Writes To PM, Seeks Help!

With Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Delhi tour getting postponed, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking financial support in providing basic facilities in Pedalandariki Illu-PMAY colonies.

Jagan informed the PM that the state government had already spent Rs 23,535 crore towards house sites and construction of houses. He urged Modi to extend financial support of Rs 34,109 crore towards providing basic facilities in the PMAY colonies. The CM said that spending such a huge amount would be a huge burden on the state government and hence, urged Modi to issue orders for sanctioning of adequate funds to Andhra Pradesh under the PMAY scheme.

In the letter, Jagan praised Modi for taking up the housing initiative and planning to complete the Pedalandiriki Illu-PMAY scheme by 2022. He also informed Modi that the state government had distributed 68,381 acres under the scheme. In 17,005 greenfield colonies, over 30.76 lakh beneficiaries were given house sites, he mentioned.

The state government has decided to construct 28.35 lakh pucca houses in these colonies and is spending Rs 50,944 crore. Under the PMAY scheme, basic facilities have to be provided in these colonies and Rs 34,104 crore is required for the purpose, he explained.

Was seeking financial aid for the housing scheme also on Jagan’s agenda during his Delhi visit?
