Who Will Be The Next TTD Chairman?

As Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) manages and controls the world’s richest temple of Lord Balaji in Tirumala, naturally it has a huge demand for the coveted post of Chairman and the posts of its Board members who are nominated by the state government.

With the end of the two-year-term of YV Subba Reddy as the TTD Chairman on 21st June, 2021, all eyes are now on the appointment of a new Chairman and the board members to the TTD. Though there were speculations that YV Subba Reddy would get the second term, the chances look gloomy given the conditions.

As soon as the term of the existing TTD Board got over, AP state government appointed a Specified Authority in substitute to it. It is fuelling the speculations that Jagan may not give a second chance to his uncle YV Subba Reddy as TTD Chairman.

With this, several YSRCP leaders and prominent persons who are close to CM Jagan have begun their lobbying for the top post. This seems to have mounted pressure on CM Jagan. Even many business persons and industrialists are in the race for the post.

Among the party leaders, former MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, who had sacrificed his ticket to Adala Prabhakar Reddy to accommodate him, is said to be strongly vying up for the post of TTD Chairman. Although his son Mekapati Goutham Reddy has been made IT Minister by taking him into Jagan’s cabinet, Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy is said to be pressurising Jagan for the TTD Chairman post. It is also buzzed that Jagan had also promised Mekapati of TTD Chairman post back then. Now that YV Subba Reddy’s term is done, Jagan may now fulfill his promise to Mekapati.

On the other hand, YV Subba Reddy too had sacrificed his Lok Sabha seat as per Jagan’s order. And he was compensated by making him the TTD Chairman in 2019 as soon as Jagan came to power. But YV Subba Reddy is hoping that he deserves a second chance as the TTD Chairman as he had given up the MP post which is of 5 years term.

Jagan is said to be disturbed with this unwanted pressure as it is from his close quarters. Though Jagan usually doesn’t get perturbed by such pressure, with the pressure coming from his close aides, he is said to be a little confused this time as he wants to balance all the groups in the party. Amidst this, it needs to be seen how Jagan would handle this challenging task.
