Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar continues to be a foe of Andhra Pradesh and is raising several fights between both states. In the latest high-level review meeting held yesterday, KCR and his cabinet decided to take 50% of Krishna water from now on.
He has made it clear that the government of Telangana will not recognize the expansion of the Pothireddypadu project which is being constructed in Andhra Pradesh. He blatantly rejected the current 66:34 share of Krishna water between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He said they will start taking 50% of water, 405.5 tmcft of the total 811 tmcft, from this year.
The centre has given guidelines in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation act about the division of liabilities and assets between both states. The percentage of Krishna water share was also decided at that time. KCR, who agreed to the act in the past, changed his statement now. He says he never agreed to the Reorganization Act.
Not only in this aspect, but KCR sidelined the guidelines in many other issues as well. Earlier, he opposed the proposal of Shila Bhide committee in sharing the central government’s organizations located in Hyderabad, between both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. He argued that all offices that are located on Telangana’s soil, will belong to the state.
With the same attitude, he took control of the Agricultural University and Telugu University located in Hyderabad. Until now, the central government didn’t respond to his activities. We have to see if it takes any action about KCR’s statements about Krishna waters.
