The state holds 40% of India’s diamond resources, with significant finds in Anantapur and Kurnool districts. Despite warnings, families camp from June to November to find diamonds, selling them to traders discreetly. Recent years witnessed many finding small diamonds in fields worth Rs 20 lakhs to Rs 2 crore, traded for cash.
