The Supreme Court has rejected Mercedes Benz’s defence that seatbelts provided sufficient protection in an accident where airbags failed to deploy. The court upheld a ₹10 lakh fine imposed on the automaker for deficiency of service and unfair trade practices. Mercedes Benz was found liable for not adequately disclosing airbag deployment conditions to consumers.
