A study found all Indian salt and sugar brands contain microplastics ranging from 0.1mm to 5mm in size, including fibre, pellets, films and fragments. Iodized salt had the highest concentration at 89.15 pieces per kg, while non-organic sugar had the most at 68.25 pieces per kg. The study raises health concerns.
