One-Hour Rule? Centre Eyes Tighter Grip on Social Media

The Government of India is considering stricter online content rules, including reducing the takedown window for unlawful posts from 2–3 hours to just one hour. Officials say the proposal is still in early stages. Plans may also expand the types of content that can be blocked, sparking fresh debate over free speech and platform compliance.
