Death Penalty for 9 Cops in Shocking Custodial Death Case

In a landmark verdict, a court in Madurai sentenced nine police officers to death in the 2020 Sathankulam custodial death case. The officers were convicted for torturing and killing a father-son duo, P. Jeyaraj and J. Benniks, in police custody. The court termed the crime “rarest of rare” and also ordered ₹1.40 crore compensation to the victims’ family.
