Supreme Court has rejected a plea seeking unrestricted powers for Delhi Police to deal with protesters. A bench led by CJI Surya Kant said the future of young students and their families must be considered before exposing them to prolonged legal proceedings. However, the court clarified that hardened criminals and those accused of serious offences remain excluded from earlier protections.
