It’s rare for Indian athletes to win a second medal in Olympics and Paralympics. Recreating history Avani Lekhara who already won a Gold medal has now earned a Bronze medal. In R8 – Women’s 50m Rifle 3P SH1, Avani stood in third place with a score of 445.9 points. Thus Avani won a Bronze and it is her second medal in the Paralympics.
Avani’s grit and determination are outstanding through the competition and this has been a phenomenal feat by any Indian athlete.
In the high jump, India’s Praveen Kumar won a silver medal earlier in the day. Praveen jumped over 2.07 metres which is also a new Asian record and guess what he is just 18 years old.
India’s tally in the medals has increased 12 but in the table it has slipped to 36th place.
India has a few more contestants like Tarun Dhillion who has cruised into the semis of Badminton while Vivek Chikara and Harvinder Singh moved to the next round of men’s individual Recurve.
