Pink Ball Test: Smriti Creates History In Australia

India’s Smriti Mandanna has created history on Australian soil by scoring a Test century. On the day 2 of the one off Pink ball and Day & Night Test, Smriti brought up her maiden Test century and she became the first team India batter to score a ton in women’s Tests in Australia.

However, Smriti escaped an out when she was at 80. The delivery was called ‘no-ball’ and having survived this, Smriti went on to score a hundred in 170 balls and put team India in a commanding position. Smriti got out at 127 and it is the highest by any batter. She hit 22 fours and one six in her innings.

From cricket experts to legends many have hailed Smriti’s defining knock. Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar congratulated Smriti on this achievement. “Fantastic knock @mandhana_smriti! Many congratulations on scoring your first Test hundred. Keep scoring and inspiring!,” tweeted Sachin Tendulkar.

This is India’s first Test match on Australian soil after 15 long years.
