Before heading to the South Africa tour, India was considered the favorites considering the world-class players we have in our Test and ODI squads. It was assumed that the inexperienced South African youngsters will fall flat in front of mighty Indians.
However, the scene has become entirely different now. South Africana managed to beat us in the Test series with 2-1 and already clinched the ODI series by 2-0, with one match left.
As mentioned earlier, India didn’t take a bad squad to the tour. All the players are highly talented and proved their mettle in domestic and international circuits. But what went wrong with the team?
According to a few cricket experts, these are not bad players but the players who are going through a bad phase. It was opined that all these players are playing the sport in very tough conditions of being in the bio-bubble, for the last two years. Due to this, their mental and physical health may get affected.
Thus, the experts stated that these players need to break for rejuvenating themselves. Once they get that much-needed break, they may find their mojo back.
But taking the schedule into consideration, we are not seeing any such holiday intervals for our players. It has to be seen if the BCCI considers this as a factor for India’s failure and sets things accordingly.
Unless and until the team is mentally strong, we can not expect the best results from the team.
