World Cup 2023: India Into Finals

India stands on the verge of creating history following a thrilling semifinal against New Zealand tonight, clinching victory by 70 runs. The exceptional centuries from Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer, along with Mohammed Shami’s pivotal seven-wicket haul, played a decisive role in India’s dominant win.

Having won the toss, Captain Rohit Sharma’s strategic choice to bat first proved effective. He established an impressive 71-run partnership with Shubman Gill for the opening wicket.

Kohli then formed a remarkable partnership with Shreyas Iyer, achieving his 50th century—a historic feat. After Kohli’s exit, Shreyas Iyer also notched up a century, supported by a brisk knock from KL Rahul (39*), resulting in India posting a formidable total of 397/4 in 50 overs.

Chasing 398 posed a formidable challenge for New Zealand, exacerbated by the early dismissals of openers Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra by Mohammed Shami.

Kane Williamson (69) and Daryll Mitchell (134) put in a big partnership. But, Shami claimed the crucial wickets of Williamson and Tom Latham in the same over.

Shami (7/57) dismantled the entire batting order of the Kiwis, restricting them to 327 all-out in 48.5 overs.

The next semi final match will see Australia facing South Africa. The outcome will determine which team will face India in the final on November 19.
