After the women’s side of Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the WPL this year, there was an added layer of expectations on the men’s side to put up their best performance. But much like almost every year, the RCB side has started so poorly that they are virtually out of the tournament already.
RCB faced a horrifying defeat in the hands of Mumbai Indians in last night’s game as the 196 target set by Kohli’s side was chased down in just 15.3 overs by Mumbai. With this defeat, RCB stands second last on the points table with 1 win and 5 losses in 6 games.
Barring an unlikely miracle that is next to impossible, RCB’s trophy hunt this year is over. The 16-year-long wait of RCB and its talismanic figure Virat Kohli could get extended by one more year, owing to their disaster performance this year.
It would be a pity to see this well-supported and crowd-favorite side finish last in the table while their women’s team won the trophy just a month ago. There are a series of trolls and memes on the RCB side on social media that are trending atop.
