The IPL retentions are out ahead of the mega auction, which is scheduled to be held later this month. Sunrisers Hyderabad, which secured the second position in IPL 2024, retained its core players for the next season.
SRH retained its destructive batter Henrich Klaasen for Rs. 23 crores, captain Pat Cummins for Rs. 18 crores, opening duo Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head for Rs. 14 crores each and Nitish Kumar Reddy for Rs. 6 crores.
Nitish was one of the stand-out players in last season. In just one season, he proved himself to be a valuable player for the side. Thus, SRH management retained him without any second thoughts. Meanwhile, Nitish is also proud to represent SRH as he is a Telugu lad. He said, “Playing for SRH fills me with Pride, as a Telugu speaker, I am proud to represent my region – the price tag doesn’t matter – received interest from other franchises but I wanted only to play for SRH, they showed trust in me initially and now I am committed to repaying the trust”.
Now, with its core retained, SRH will be looking forward to retaining a few good players to make the squad balanced. If all points are checked, it will be a destructive team next season as well.
