After a long time, Telugu cricketers are making their mark on an international level and that too by saving Team India in crucial situations. A few weeks ago, we saw Vizag boy Nitish Kumar Reddy saving India from a follow-on in Melbourne. Now, Hyderabadi champ Tilak Varma saved India from losing the second T20I against England.
Tilak’s resilient innings helped Team India to triumph over England in the second T20I match of the ongoing series against England. On the tricky pitch of Chennai, England bowlers dominated Indian batters during the second innings last night where the latter was chasing a target of 166.
Tilak entered the crease after the first wicket. Even though wickets were falling on the other side, Tilak stayed calm and had clarity on how to anchor the innings. He got support for a short span from Washington Sundar. But when Sundar got out, everyone thought that India would lose.
But Tilak pulled India out from the jaws of defeat and handed over a thrilling victory by two wickets. With the help of his stunning innings, India chased down the target with four balls left.
Rarely do we see Telugu cricketers making a mark on an international stage. However, in recent times, Mohammed Siraj, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Tilak Varma are proving their talent in crucial international matches and inspiring many other aspiring cricketers from AP and Telangana.
