After posting a modest target of 249 runs, India successfully defended the score while New Zealand struggled in their run chase.
Spinners Varun Chakravarthy and Ravindra Jadeja were absolutely brilliant with the ball, dominating the New Zealand batters. As for the New Zealand batting lineup, it was Kane Williamson who stood out. He scored 81 runs but took 120 balls, which ultimately cost New Zealand as they fell short of the target. This slow pace of play proved detrimental in the end.
While the victory over New Zealand is sweet for India, it also brings a huge challenge. This means India will now face Australia in the semi-finals in Dubai.
Facing Australia in an ICC tournament is always a tough task, and India must play out of their skin to win this game. The match is scheduled for March 4.
