In the match 22 of Indian Premier League, Punjab Kings registered a victory against Chennai Super Kings. PBKS won the game by 18 runs.
Toss:
PBKS won the toss and decided to bat first.
First Innings:
Since it is home ground, PBKS came to the middle, with an interesting strategy. Priyansh Arya who has been struggling so far scored the first century. This is the first century this season. Shashank Singh scored a half century. The rest of the batsmen failed to score big. Still, the team scored 219 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. CSK bowlers had a tough time dealing PBKS batsmen. Khaleel Ahmed and Ashwin took 2 wickets each while Mukesh Choudhary and Noor took one wicket each.
Second Innings:
CSK looked fit to chase down the big total. Rachin Ravindra scored 36 and Conway scored a half century. However, Conway slowed his game, resulting in the chase witnessing a slow pace. It resulted in him departing by retired out. Shivam Dube played some big shots and MS Dhoni surprisingly came up in the batting order to silence his critics. He almost took the game to the winning stage. But, his departure towards the end of the game had put an end to the hopes of CSK. Even Jadeja was not helpful. A total of 7 bowlers were used by PBKS. Despite them putting a poor show, CSK were able to cross 200 runs.
In a nutshell:
It was PBKS’ day today. While CSK bowlers did not make any impression. Their batsmen were in form. Even MS Dhoni played big shots to silence his critics that he does not like to play slow. The PBKS batsmen need to be consistent. Apart from Priyansh, the other PBKS batsmen failed to make any impression. Altogether, both the teams need to strengthen their bowling departments. CSK has to improve its performance and if not, they will remain at the bottom this season.
Scorecard:
PBKS: 219/6 (20)
CSK: 201/5 (20)
