Despite Thala Captaincy, Mumbai Beats Chennai!

Continuing the tradition of the one-sided affairs between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, the game between the two of them last night also ended up on a very monotonous note.

Despite the tried and trusted captaincy of MS Dhoni, Chennai was of no match to this ruthless Mumbai side that was absolutely rampant from the first ball.

The primary cause of concern for Chennai is the lack of intent at the top of the order as they got their tactics and execution absolutely wrong. There is simply no intent at the top of the order to break the shackles in the powerplay.

And when it comes to bowling choices, we simply can’t expect wonders from a 43 year old Dhoni as the captain. All he can do is rotate his bowlers based on the situation, and it is up to them to pull up something out of the bag and deliver on the big stage.

As a unit, Chennai is absolutely lacking, any kind of intent or motivation to win big games. It has now reached a point where fans are absolutely hopeless and even paining to see Chennai get absolutely decimated.

On the other hand, Mumbai is getting back on one of its famous comeback bandwagons. They have their previous games on the trot. Mumbai, getting back to winning ways in the closing stages is never a good sign for any team. Once they get back to full flight, there is absolutely no stopping Mumbai until they go all the way.

After having narrowly failed to qualify to the play-offs in 2024, Chennai is likely to finish at the bottom of the table this year. It is going to be the question of whether the team finishes in the ninth position of the 10th position from here on.
