This year’s IPL points table is making for a painful view for Chennai Super Kings fans. They are sitting firmly at the bottom of the table with two wins in eight games. Seeing Chennai Super Kings, in the 10th position on the table is not something that we are usually used to.
As things stand, Chennai Super Kings is theoretically in the contention for the playoff spot, but practically speaking, they are pretty much done and dusted.
With just four points in eight games, Chennai is in 10th position on the table and they will need to win all six of their remaining games if they are to actually stand a chance to enter the play-offs. Theoretically speaking, this is still possible on paper if Chennai can pull off a miraculous run.
But in practical terms, considering the pathetic form of the side with the bat and also with the ball, this looks excruciatingly unlikely. They might have Dhoni as their captain who had scripted remarkable seasons in the past, but they are nowhere near their best this year.
The lack of intent and in adequate game application is costing Chennai big time. Coming back from this and practically pulling off 6 out of 6 wins in the upcoming games is looking very much out of the equation.
