Nearly all the teams are done with the opening 10 games in the ongoing IPL season. The race for the play-offs is getting that much more intense and tight as we approach the business end of the tournament.
In this context, let us have a look at the kind of positioning and probability that each of the team has when it comes to progressing through for the play-offs.
In terms of percentage, the table toppers Royal Challengers Bengaluru find themselves in a peculiar number one position which is new even to them. They have a 91% chance of progressing to the play-offs. Gujarat Titans follow in second position with 79%. Delhi Capitals are not for behind at 76%.
Then Mumbai Indians who were very slow at the start of the tournament, but picked up later and won five games on a row. They have a 65% chance of qualifying for the play-offs. Punjab is a close fifth with 60%.
RCB – 91%.
GT – 79%.
DC – 76%.
MI – 65%.
PBKS – 60%.
LSG – 21%.
KKR – 6%.
SRH – 2%.
RR ~ 0.2%.

Chennai and Hyderabad are at the bottom of the table and their tournament is pretty much sealed. Rajasthan is at 8. But last night’s remarkable win for Rajasthan might keep them alive momentarily.
