After getting absolutely bombarded by the English batsmen, India showed great resilience in the fourth Test match with a spirited performance. The Indian batsmen managed to defend against an English onslaught and drew the match against all odds.
After considering a lead of 300 runs to England, India came out to bat in the third innings with extreme pressure. To make matters worse, India lost two wickets for the loss of zero runs and looked down and out.
However, this was when Rahul, Captain Gill, Jadeja and Washington Sundar came out with the rescue act for India. All three of Gill, Jadeja and Sundar could score centuries in the third innings while taking India to a respectable score of 425 runs. Rahul was no less either as he scored 90 runs.
From a position where England looked at certain to bundle out India and claim the fourth test match, it took a lot of character from the Indian batsmen to stand up to the challenge, and they certainly did a brilliant job at it.
This essentially means that the test series is still alive with the scorecard, reading 2 to 1 in favour of England with the fourth test match concluding in a draw.
If India can somehow win the fifth test match, then the series could be levelled 2-2 which is a good result for India at this point. But a lot depends on the kind of batting performance that is displayed by India in the fifth and crucial match which is starting on July 31.
