After the horrifying Pahalgam terror attack, the Indian cricketing board confirmed that they will no longer play bilateral series with Pakistan. This brought serious doubts on whether India would be comfortable enough to play against Pakistan in the upcoming mega tournament, Asia Cup.
However, as per media reports, it has been confirmed that India is indeed going to be playing against Pakistan in this Asia Cup tournament and there is a very strong financial reason behind the same.
The media rights of this tournament have been valued at around ₹1400 crore. This is primarily due to the potential 3-time clash between India and Pakistan in the tournament(including knockouts if both teams qualify).
This massive media deal would mean that every top team would get significant share in the revenues. But at the same time, the tournament would not fetch as much financial gains if India does not play with Pakistan.
So at least from a financial standpoint, it is crucial that India versus Pakistan in the tournament, and this could be one of the crucial propping factors behind the fixtures as well.
